The Blue Triangle Garden Club and the West MacGregor Homeowners Association have established Pride of MacGregor Yard of the Month Contest to promote civic appreciation and reward exemplary lawn care in the community.  Its purpose is to recognize neighbors who demonstrate excellence in maintaining their property, thereby contributing to the overall appearance of the community at large.  This award is administered entirely by volunteer members of the Blue Triangle Garden Club and the West MacGregor Homeowners Association.

Each month, from April through October, the Pride of MacGregor will be awarded to a homeowner’s lawn that best typifies the qualities of: uniqueness, beauty, appeal and consistency with the guidelines.  Judges will use the general criteria and procedures below when choosing Yard of the Month.

ELIGIBILITY

• Properties are eligible to receive the Yard of the Month once in a 12 month period.

• Properties may be personally or professionally maintained.

• Properties must be located within the West MacGregor Homeowners Association limits.

CRITERIA

• Yard is well groomed (mowed, edged and minimal weeds).

• Yard is attractive – pleasing to the eye (e.g. green lawn, variety of plants with various heights and colors).

• House numbers are attractively displayed

• Only the portions of the yard viewed from the street will be judged.

PROCEDURE

• Yard of the Month will be awarded each month between April and October.

• Photos of the yard, with permission of the property owner, shall be shown on the Blue Triangle Garden Club’s website and Facebook site.

• A Yard of the Month Sign will be placed in the yard of the winner during the 30 day period recognizing the honor.

• Each yard will be limited to winning the award only once in a 12 month period.

• Should a homeowner decline to participate upon notification of winning, the second highest scoring yard will become Yard of the Month.

• While a yard is being recognized as Yard of the Month, the winning property is expected to maintain the yard in the same manner that allowed them to win the honor.

NOMINATIONS

• Nominations for Yard of the month may be made by email to bluetrianglegc@gmail.com

• Nominations must include:

• The name and telephone number of the person nominating the yard

• The exact physical address of the property nominated

• A reason why this property deserves the award

• The decisions by the Pride of MacGregor Yard of the Month Committee are final.

• Properties may be nominated by the property owner or other party.

• Judging will occur during the period of the last week of the month to the first week of new month.

• Recipients of the award receive a sign placed on their property for up to a 30-day period.  This sign recognizes their efforts in beautifying the community.
